Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 50.5%/Vol 101 Proof
Named after the creek that runs through the site of the distillery, Rowan’s Creek comes from Willett Distillery, like Johnny Drum which we previously reviewed. This is a sourced Whiskey, so we’re not sure where it originates. The price point of $35 is also very appealing.
Medium legs meandering down the glass. Golden honey in color, it beckons you to raise the glass.
The nose is peach, oak, and mint with mild heat. These are the kinds of scents that we find very appealing.
The flavor is cloves and cinnamon with a hint of caramel. It feels light and thin and not over-powering in any way. It’s easy to drink at 101 proof. The finish is oak and mint that lingers like a good conversation with a friend at the end of the night. I’d compare it to drinking the end of a mint julep at a billowing campfire. A splash of water brings out an added layer of sweetness and perfume, so give her a kiss of water and she’ll be good to ya.
